Facilities Maintenance Repair Technician

This position provides skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair and operational support for the Kansas State Fairgrounds. Responsibilities include facility repairs, event setup and tear-down, grounds support, equipment operation and supervising work crews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, service and tear down Fair and non-Fair events, including livestock pens, stages/risers and basic sound systems.
  • Work with facility renters to ensure events meet contract requirements and run smoothly.
  • Operate equipment such as Bobcats, forklifts and telehandlers.
  • Supervise and assign work to maintenance crews.
  • Assist with construction, repair and grounds maintenance projects.
  • Help ensure compliance with ADA, fire safety, life safety and other applicable codes and standards.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Knowledge of general maintenance, construction and repair practices.
  • Ability to safely operate tools, equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to read work orders, blueprints and technical documents.
  • Strong communication, organization and leadership skills.
  • Previous facility, grounds or event-venue experience is preferred

Are you an experienced electrician who loves a dynamic work environment? We are looking for a skilled professional to handle electrical upgrades, maintenance, and installations across our campus (interior and exterior).

From blueprint to reality, you’ll keep our power running safely and smoothly!

🛠️ What You’ll Do:

  • Plan, install, and repair electrical systems, wiring, machinery, and equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and design specs.
  • Mount motors, light fixtures, and connect circuit breakers/transformers.
  • Work alongside a contract electrician to tackle large-scale upgrades.

📋 What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma/GED + completed apprenticeship (or equivalent experience).
  • Solid experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional electrical work.
  • Strong knowledge of the NEC and safety protocols for high-voltage systems.
  • A valid driver’s license.

🌟 Bonus Points For:

  • 3+ years of commercial/industrial experience.
  • Experience with temporary event power, fire alarms, or automated controls.
  • Ability to operate bucket trucks, lifts, or trenchers.
