Are you an experienced electrician who loves a dynamic work environment? We are looking for a skilled professional to handle electrical upgrades, maintenance, and installations across our campus (interior and exterior).

From blueprint to reality, you’ll keep our power running safely and smoothly!

🛠️ What You’ll Do:

  • Plan, install, and repair electrical systems, wiring, machinery, and equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and design specs.
  • Mount motors, light fixtures, and connect circuit breakers/transformers.
  • Work alongside a contract electrician to tackle large-scale upgrades.

📋 What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma/GED + completed apprenticeship (or equivalent experience).
  • Solid experience in commercial, industrial, or institutional electrical work.
  • Strong knowledge of the NEC and safety protocols for high-voltage systems.
  • A valid driver’s license.

🌟 Bonus Points For:

  • 3+ years of commercial/industrial experience.
  • Experience with temporary event power, fire alarms, or automated controls.
  • Ability to operate bucket trucks, lifts, or trenchers.


Facilities Specialist HVAC/Plumbing

Position Summary:

The Kansas State Fair is seeking a skilled Facilities Specialist HVAC/Plumbing to support the operation, repair, and upkeep of fairgrounds facilities. This position focuses on HVAC and plumbing systems while performing a variety of multi-trade maintenance tasks to ensure buildings and grounds are safe, functional, and event-ready year-round.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repairs across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building systems
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve mechanical and facility issues
  • Complete work orders and assist with special projects, including installations and system upgrades
  • Support concrete work, fabrication, and general grounds maintenance as needed
  • Supervise and direct assigned staff and work crews
  • Ensure compliance with ADA, fire safety, and life safety codes
  • Assist in preparing facilities for the annual Fair and other events

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance systems
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and building system issues
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in facility maintenance at a large venue or event-based environment
  • Knowledge of ADA, fire safety, and life safety compliance standards
  • Trade certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems
  • Experience with project planning and cost estimation

Facility Maint. Repair Technic

Position Summary:
This position performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and operational support of Kansas State Fairgrounds facilities and infrastructure. The incumbent assists in construction and repair projects, assists in the overseeing of grounds upkeep, supports event operations, supervises assigned staff, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Directly assists Operations Manager and/or Operations Assistant Manager with a wide array of skilled and semi-skilled building repairs, event set-ups & tear down, cleaning and maintaining appearance of state buildings. KSF does 500 non-fair event rentals through the year in conjunction of the State Fair. We have 32 buildings that need periodic maintenance. Work with inmate labor in set up and teardown of Non-Fair events. Ensure inmate labor is trained and able to safely operate machinery. Ensuring assigned work orders are finished in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Education: diploma or equivalent

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of general maintenance, construction, and repair practices.
Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical documents.
Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery.
Ability to supervise and direct the work of others.
Effective communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in facility or grounds maintenance in a large venue or event-based environment.
Knowledge of ADA, fire safety, and life safety codes and compliance standards.
Experience in event setup and coordination.
